Training and Competency Evidence – Ideas for Improvement
I’d like to open a discussion on how we can make training evidence and competency tracking more streamlined and impactful within SafetyCulture.
Currently, when we’re audited or reviewing users, it can be challenging to collate certifications—not just for courses completed in SC, but also external credentials that contribute to a full competency profile.
Imagine if we could go beyond the current bulk download option for courses and have a simpler, more visual solution—perhaps a grid-style view that shows all training and credentials in one place. This would make verification faster and more transparent.
Why is this important?
Training is only one part of competence. We’re being challenged to demonstrate and improve overall competency, not just course completion. Ideally, we want to create a structured, visible competency journey for every user, linked to their role and daily responsibilities.
A competency profile approach—integrated across SC—would add real value by making expectations clear and progress measurable. If this could connect to users’ activities and actions throughout the platform, it would help us build a stronger, more accountable workforce.
There is also the possibility that this links with a users profile and job role which then links to objective and improved plans for progression of individuals with goals.
